Information received on grave of female martyr in Laos

The information was provided by Ho Van Moi (born in 1961, residing in Xa Dun Phuong village cluster, Sepon district). The grave is located on his family’s farm, approximately 6.2km towards Laos from border marker No.594, at coordinates N16°47’7’’; E106°30’52’’.

Ho Van Moi stated that in 1972 or 1973, there were eight graves of Vietnam soldiers buried along a stream in this area. Functional forces had previously collected seven sets of remains. The remaining grave belongs to a female martyr with long, dark hair.

During the first exhumation attempt, because the body had not fully decomposed, she was reburied about 2m from the original spot. Around 1997 or 1998, a large rock, 1.5 to 2m in diameter, rolled down the mountainside and covered the grave, severely hindering collection efforts.

Upon receiving the information, Huong Phung Border Post instructed the witness to record videos, take photos of the site, and verify the coordinates. The unit is compiling relevant details to report to the Quang Tri provincial Border Guard Command and functional agencies. This will serve as the basis for surveying, verifying, and organizing search and collection operations in accordance with regulations.
