GDP gathers former brave teenagers
PANO - The General Department of Politics on May 17 held a gathering for representatives of former brave teenagers in the Southern front during the resistance war against American invaders in celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of the former Southern Brave Teenager team (May 19, 1968).
Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP) chaired the event.
Present at the gathering were the GDP’s Deputy-Directors, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia and Lieutenant General Do Can, among others.
On behalf of the delegation of former Southern Brave Teenager team, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Tien Trung recalled the establishment and the feats-of-arms of the team in the past.
At the event, General Cuong inquired after and wished delegates good health. He also praised their bravery and ingenuity in fighting against foreign invaders, contributing to liberating Southern Vietnam and reunifying the country.
The GDP’s Director affirmed that the CMC, the Ministry of National Defense, the GDP and the whole-military troops would always remember their great contributions to the national revolutionary cause.
He also briefed delegates on the domestic, regional and international situations, the outcomes of the whole-people defense posture and military-building and hoped that they would continue bringing into play their heroic traditions, calling on people to follow the Party’s guidelines and the State’s laws, contributing to maintaining socio-political stability in their localities.
