Providing first aid for fisherman Nguyen Van Chi Thanh

Earlier, on the evening of August 17, trawler TG 90368 TS was operating about 109 nautical miles southeast of Vung Tau Cape and 85 nautical miles east of Con Dao Island when fisherman Nguyen Van Chi Thanh, born in 2000 from Dong Thap province, developed severe pain in his lower right abdomen. At the time, the area was experiencing level 5-6 southwesterly winds, with gusts reaching levels 7-8.

After receiving the report from the trawler’s owner, the Viet Nam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center asked the Ho Chi Minh City Coastal Communication Station to connect and provide the fisherman with remote medical consultation. At the same time, the center coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command and other relevant forces to quickly develop a rescue plan.

Given the risk that the fisherman’s condition could worsen and the trawler’s considerable distance from shore, the center sent Ship SAR 413, which was on standby in Ho Chi Minh City, to conduct the rescue mission. A doctor from the Border Post of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Port Border Gate, under the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command, accompanied the rescue team.
