Alongside construction workers, border guard officers and soldiers are also contributing to the effort. After completing their training duties, they join construction teams in a race against time to ensure the new schools are ready before the start of the academic year.
At the Integrated Primary and Secondary Boarding School in Anh Son commune, workers and soldiers have divided the work among themselves, transporting cement, sand, bricks and steel, mixing concrete and building walls. The classroom and dormitory buildings have reached the roof-completion stage, while masonry, plastering, electrical and plumbing work is progressing on schedule.

Non-Commissioned Colonel Bui Duc Quan, a serviceman at Phuc Son Border Post under the Border Guard Command of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command, said that immediately after completing their training and exercise missions, the unit deployed officers and soldiers to assist with the construction of the school. The troops regard the work as an important political task and continue working into the evening when necessary, aiming to help complete the project on schedule so teachers and students can move into the new school before the academic year begins.
According to contractors, labor shortages have been the biggest challenge, as many construction projects are underway simultaneously in the area. Tran Hoang Viet, a representative of Viet Anh Construction Investment and Trading Services Company, the contractor for the Anh Son school, said the assistance of border guard officers and soldiers has enabled the company to better allocate its workforce and concentrate skilled workers on technical tasks, helping accelerate construction.
Similar efforts are underway at other school construction sites in Nghe An’s border areas. Border guard officers and soldiers are involved in transporting materials, leveling ground, building walls, completing roof structures and clearing construction sites. Their support has significantly accelerated progress and helped lay the groundwork for completing key components by the end of August.
According to Sr. Col. Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Political Commissar of the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command, the participation of border posts in building boarding schools in border areas is not simply construction assistance but also a practical form of mass mobilization activities. Through these efforts, border guard officers and soldiers have helped strengthen military-civilian solidarity, reinforce the trust of ethnic minority communities in the Party, the State and the military, and further promote the border guard’s core role in building an all-people border defense posture and a strong “people’s hearts posture.”
As the schools gradually take shape amidst the mountains and forests along Nghe An’s border, their classrooms and dormitories stand as the result not only of bricks and cement but also of the labor, dedication, and responsibility of border guard officers and soldiers.
Lu Thanh Long, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tri Le commune, said the joint efforts of agencies, sectors, and the border guard force have helped accelerate construction so that students will soon be able to study in spacious new schools and fulfill the long-held aspirations of local residents.
