The fishing boat LA-03973 suffering engine failure

The boat, bearing registration number LA-03973, departed from Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai province on the morning of April 1, en route to Ho Chi Minh City. There were two crew-members on board, with Nguyen Cao (born in 1970, from Quang Ngai) as the boat’s owner. During the voyage, the boat suffered an engine failure, lost maneuverability, and began drifting at sea.

Immediately after receiving orders from the Naval Region 4 Command and Brigade 955, Ship 785 quickly maneuvered to a position approximately 5 nautical miles northeast of Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa province, where it approached the boat and checked both the boat’s condition and the crew’s health. Initial assessments showed that both crew-members were in stable health.

By 12:00 noon the same day, Ship 785 successfully towed the boat into Cam Ranh Bay for repairs. During the operation, officers and sailors aboard the ship also provided the fishermen with fresh water and essential supplies.
