The patient, named La Van Tru, 60 years old from Hoai Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai province, is a crew-member of fishing trawler BD 97863 TS, captained by Ton Van Duong from Hoai Nhon ward, Gia Lai province. The vessel departed on March 7 and the patient was brought to the infirmary at 2:00 on March 30.
Upon receiving the information, the infirmary promptly prepared for receiving the patient.
According to the captain’s account, at around 4:00 on March 29, while sitting and fishing with others, the patient suddenly became drowsy and unresponsive when called, though he still reacted to pinching. He still could move both arms and legs, but the tongue obstruction caused snoring respiration. The fishermen then let him rest, and by the afternoon of the same day, he became more alert, was able to respond appropriately, but showed weakness on the left side of his body.
