Troops of Regiment 720, youth volunteers and Youth Union members repair the road.

The road, stretching from Dak Ru Junction in Quang Tin commune to Tan Binh village in Quang Tan commune, Lam Dong province, was concreted many years ago and serves as a vital transportation route connecting villages and hamlets to the centers of the two communes. After years of use and exposure to harsh weather, the road surface deteriorated with cracks, potholes, and erosion, making travel and agricultural transport difficult for local people.

In response, Regiment 720 conducted surveys, developed plans, and launched repair work along the entire route. The unit’s troops actively leveled the surface, filled potholes, dredged drainage systems, and cleared vegetation on both sides of the road to ensure traffic safety.

Within a short period, by mid-September, the road’s appearance had been visibly improved. It was clean and clear, making travel much more convenient.

Colonel Doan Manh Nghia, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Regiment 720, affirmed that along with training and combat readiness, the unit always identifies infrastructure development, socio-economic support, and poverty reduction assistance as an important political responsibility. According to him, each project not only has material value but also strengthens the solidarity between troops and people, contributing to local political security and social order.

Village patriarch Dieu Guu from Busere I village in Quang Tin commune expressed gratitude to the troops’ efforts, joyfully saying that the road is now clean and smooth, making travel much easier. “Everyone in the village is grateful for their dedication,” he stated.

Meanwhile, head of Tan Binh village Dinh Xuan Thuong emphasized that the upgraded road would benefit many ethnic households, helping improve agricultural transport and creating new opportunities for local economic growth.

Tirelessly leveling each pothole

Despite heavy rains and slippery conditions during construction, the officers and soldiers of Regiment 720 worked tirelessly, making use of every dry moment to carry materials and level the road. The image of mud-covered soldiers diligently repairing each pothole left a deep impression on local residents.

The repaired road not only eases travel but also encourages households to expand production, growing long-term industrial crops such as coffee, pepper, cashew, durian, and avocado. Traders can now access farms directly to purchase produce, reducing transport costs and increasing farmers’ incomes.

Projects like this vividly demonstrate the enduring bond between troops and people. The footsteps of Regiment 720’s troops will continue to be imprinted on the roads of southern Central Highlands, contributing to building a prosperous and peaceful life for local communities.
