On April 24, immediately after surveying the scene, assessing the damage, and identifying urgent tasks, the Ba To district Military Command quickly mobilized forces to relocate 18 heavily affected households to the houses of relatives for safety. Troops also helped local residents collect belongings, repair homes, and clear fallen trees to reopen inter-commune roads.

For houses with partial damage or torn-off roofs, emergency reinforcement and temporary roofing were installed to ensure shelter for the affected families. More sustainable and long-term solutions will follow to provide people with secure shelter during future natural disasters.

It is reported that all 95 affected households in Ba Vi commune belong to people of the H’Re ethnic minority group, whose living conditions remain difficult and whose homes are mostly poorly constructed. The timely support of the armed forces in Ba To District not only helped the community recover from the disaster but also served as a significant source of encouragement and a reliable support for people in distress.

As previously reported, at around 4:00 p.m. on April 23, a strong thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain and hail (with a diameter of approximately 0.5 cm) hit Ba Vi commune, Ba To district. The storm lasted about 40 minutes, causing serious property damage.

Specifically, over 95 houses were damaged - including 15 houses with over 80% damage, 22 houses damaged between 50-80%, and 58 houses with damage below 50%. Additionally, the headquarters of the commune People’s Committee and Cultural House suffered partial roof damage and interior equipment loss.

The storm also uprooted numerous trees, blocking the National Highway 24 and roads connecting Ba Vi and Ba Xa communes, leading to hours-long traffic disruption.
