With the theme “80 years of a heroic military,” the contest is organized by the General Department of Political Affairs of the VPA in collaboration with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Education and Information; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Ministry of Information and Communications; the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists; and the Vietnam Journalists’ Association.

The contest aims to encourage all individuals, particularly artists, journalists, and photography enthusiasts, to capture photos with significant values in both content and art. It seeks to enhance the collection of military-related photos for information dissemination, education, and the enrichment of cultural and spiritual life for all military personnel and the public.

The contest consists of two categories: Press photos and artistic photos. Entries sent to the contest must be created from January 1, 2020, to September 30, 2024. The organizing panel will select 80 photos for exhibition and award prizes to 48 photos in both categories.
