Nghe An’s border guards spend weekends helping border communities
PANO - Every weekend, officers and soldiers of the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard regularly head to remote villages to assist local residents. Their practical, hands-on efforts are making positive changes in border areas, contributing to strengthening military-civilian ties and reinforcing the image of dedicated “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” in the eyes of ethnic communities.

Suu’s house had long suffered from a damp earthen floor; the reinforced foundation now ensures safer living conditions. "My family couldn't afford repairs. I'm grateful for the soldiers and neighbors who provided labor and livelihood guidance," Suu said.
This scene is common across Nghe An’s border areas. In Xop Phe village, Muong Ai Border Post personnel helped Moong Pho Nhuan dismantle a deteriorating shelter to prepare for new construction. Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Quang Hieu, Political Officer of Muong Ai Border Post, stated that such assistance is a routine responsibility, focusing on housing, infrastructure, and production to strengthen military-civilian ties.

Living alongside residents, border guards serve as both protectors of national sovereignty and partners in poverty reduction. These weekend engagements allow officers to understand local aspirations, encourage law observance, and counter harmful influences, ultimately ensuring political stability in border communities.
