Reportedly, over the past 10 years, under the leadership of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and local authorities, the military region’s leaders have grasped situations, overcome difficulties and comprehensively implemented Resolution 689.

Since 2014, the military region has mobilized nearly 320,000 troops and militiamen with more than 6,600 participating vehicles and equipment in response to natural disasters and search and rescue missions with good outcomes; promoted international cooperation and experience sharing, boosted training and drills on search and rescue with other countries, bringing practical results.

An overview of the conference

Concluding the conference, General Thach affirmed that over the past 10 years of implementing Resolution 689 of the Central Military Commission, the MR5’s Party Committee has strictly implemented all resolutions of the Party, State, Ministry of National Defense, and raised troops’ awareness of natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue missions in the military region, contributing to minimizing damages to people and property, highly appreciated by local authorities and people.

On the occasion, the conference presented certificates of merit of MR5 Commander to 10 collectives and 10 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of Resolution 689 in this field.
