On August 22, Division 5 of Military Region 7 held a send-off ceremony for nearly 2,000 troops to take disease prevention and control measures at COVID-19 clusters in Ho Chi Minh City. Earlier, the division sent 500 troops to Binh Duong province, 300 troops to Tay Ninh province, and 12 doctors and nurses to Long An province.

* The same day, the Military Command of Binh Phuoc province started transporting 176 tons of vegetables and other basic necessities to assist needy people in Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.

* Also on August 22, the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of Vietnam Fatherland Front received 1.5 million medical face masks, 150,000 N95 facemasks, 30,000 protective suits from AS-TK Vietnam Hi-Tech Joint-Stock Company to help the city fight the pandemic.
* One thousand COVID-19 hit people in Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh city have received gifts from the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command and Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco). Each gift includes rice, instant noodles, fish sauce, soy sauce, eggs, and dry provision.

* The Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Military Command has handed over 70 gifts, worth VND 350,000 each, to families of troops and civilians in Long Tam ward, Ba Ria city to help ease their difficulties caused by the COVID-19.
* Quarantine facilities and field hospitals set up by Binh Duong province’s armed forces are now ready to receive and treat COVID-19 patients. On August 22, the provincial People’s Committee issued a plan to provide foodstuff for people in 11 wards with high number of COVID-19 cases.
* Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on August 22 issued an urgent document on supporting COVID-19 hit people with additional budget of over VND 2,576 billion. Specifically, poor laborers living in boarding houses, poor villages, and lock-down areas and disadvantaged freelancers are added to the list of those to receive the support.
* On August 22, more troops of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial Border Guard Command started reinforcing Phuoc Tinh Border Guard Post to strengthen patrol and guard at border paths to prevent illegal entry and exit and to boost dissemination of information about COVID-19 prevention and control.
