The information was announced by the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) at a conference on June 27 to review the results of the military’s campaign to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses in 2025. The conference, held both in online and offline formats, was chaired by Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, the GDP’s Deputy Chief.

The conference revealed that as part of the nationwide movement to eliminate substandard houses, agencies and units in the whole military have worked closely with local Party committees, authorities, departments, mass organizations, and media outlets, both inside and outside the military, to promote dissemination to enhance troops and the public’s awareness of the movement.
To improve the quality of housing and reduce construction costs, the military has mobilized over 86,000 officers, soldiers, and militiamen to build the houses. They have contributed nearly 300,000 men-days and over 2,000 pieces of equipment to help localities accelerate the progress of eliminating makeshift and dilapidated homes.
Speaking at the event, the GDP’s deputy chief commended the achievements of the agencies and units in implementing the movement. He urged the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels to continue to thoroughly grasp and rigorously implement the directives and telegrams from the Prime Minister, particularly Telegram No.84, with the goal of completely eliminating makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide by August 31, 2025. He emphasized that housing support for relatives of fallen soldiers and people with meritorious service to the revolution must be completed by July 27, 2025.

He also emphasized the need to foster information dissemination through mass media to foster widespread consensus and unity among the people, call for active participation from all sectors and communities to rapidly achieve the nationwide goal of eliminating makeshift and dilapidated houses.
