Lai Chau’s border guards present gifts and smartphones to people in border areas
PANO – A delegation of the Border Guard Command of the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command visited and presented gifts and smartphones to households and families living in poverty in Mo Chi hamlet, Pa U commune, Lai Chau Province.
Mo Chi hamlet is home to 77 households with 316 residents, all of whom belong to the La Hu ethnic minority group. The local community continues to face significant economic hardships, and infrastructure remains underdeveloped.

In an effort to promote the “Digital Literacy for All” campaign in border areas, officers and soldiers of Lai Chau’s border guards contributed funds to purchase and donate 10 smartphones, 100 pairs of sandals, and two sets of pots and pans to disadvantaged residents. The total value of the donated items was approximately VND 60 million.

Commanding Officer of the Border Guard Command under the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command Lieutenant Colonel Truong Minh Duc stated that the initiative to provide free smartphones aims to gradually bridge the information gap and make positive changes in the lives of ethnic minority communities in border areas. Access to smartphones will enable residents to engage with digital technologies and stay informed about the Party’s guidelines, State’s policies and laws, as well as resolutions and directives on socio-economic development.

Through this, the program seeks to enhance legal awareness and law compliance, contribute to poverty reduction, increase smartphone usage rates, and promote the “Digital Literacy for All” campaign. The initiative supports the province’s broader goals of digital transformation, including building digital government, digital economy, and digital society.
