Local authorities have worked with military units to guide 23,300 fishing boats with 78,200 fishermen to take shelter, while preparing evacuation plans for people in flood-, landslide- and storm-prone areas.

At a meeting at MR4 Headquarters on August 24, Lieutenant General Ha Tho Binh, MR4 Commander, stressed the “four-on-the-spot” principle, urging troops to stay ready for both immediate response and post-storm recovery.

In Nghe An province, the provincial People’s Committee has formed delegations to inspect storm response work. Over 400 households with 1,300 people have been evacuated from the degraded Quang Trung apartment complex. Prompt storm prevention and control work has been sped up at major estuaries.

Evacuating locals to safer areas

In Ha Tinh province, an emergency command has been set up in Tien Dien commune. Over 200 troops and militia have reinforced dikes, while 3,785 households have been evacuated. According to Senior Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thang, head of the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command, troops have helped residents secure homes and property.

Meanwhile, on Con Co Island of Quang Tri province, local forces have completed the evacuation of 400 residents to shelters and secured boats, equipment, and homes. Supplies have been prepared for prolonged bad weather.

In Quang Tri province, residents have been ordered to stay indoors from 9 p.m. on August 24 until further notice.

In Thanh Hoa province, eight inspection teams have been deployed. As many as 169 live video conference points have been set up for storm coordination. Over 1,150 local troops, 16,500 militiamen, and nearly 2,000 military personnel from units under the Ministry of National Defense stationed in the locality are on standby. Evacuation shelters are stocked with food and supplies.

In Hue city, a delegation from MR4 Command and municipal authorities have inspected preparation work at Thuan An bridge, fishing ports, and shelters. Over 100 troops from the city’s Military Command have helped locals move food, assets, and harvest crops.
