Upon knowing this situation, Son Vi Border Post called upon sponsors for help and in a short time they received a reply. Accordingly, Nguyen Thi Hang, a homestay owner of Meo Vac Clay House in Pa Vi commune, Meo Vac district, presented VND 60 million to build a new house for No.

“I have never dreamt of a new house because I did not have enough money. Thanks to the meaningful support from Nguyen Thi Hang and border guards, the construction of the house is underway. We expect to have a new house before the Tet holiday,” shared No.

Reportedly, in 2023 alone, Nguyen Thi Hang gave VND 120 million to two needy families who were facing housing difficulties, one for Tho Va No and another for Sung Mi Gia in Na Nung B hamlet, Son Vi commune.

Nguyen Thi Hang held that her family has actively joined hands in gratitude activities in the spirit of “healthy leaves envelop torn leaves” in order to share difficulties with impoverished households. She hoped that her good deeds would help them have new houses ahead of the coming Tet holiday. “Their joy is my joy,” she underlined.

In order to further support those living in downgraded houses, in 2023, Son Vi Border Post mobilized resources from sponsors to build new ones for eight families with a total cost of VND 450 million. In addition, the post’s troops contributed hundreds of working days during the construction of these projects.

Major Nong Quang Lap, Deputy Political Commissar of Son Vi Border Post, held that they have tried their utmost to mobilize as much money as possible to build new houses for the poor. Meanwhile, they have actively supported local residents to develop economy and improve living standards.

The project to build gratitude houses for needy people in border area holds important significance, showing sentiment and gratitude of border guards to local residents, encouraging them to further team up with border guards to well safeguard the national sovereignty over land borderline, and contributing to realizing Vietnam’s National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for in 2021-2030 period.

As the 2024 Tet holiday is just around the corner, many downgraded houses in border areas will be soon replaced by new ones. Thus, poor families will welcome the Spring in their own new houses imbued with military-civilian ties.
