Presenting gifts to disadvantaged families and revolutionary contributors

As part of the program, officers from Flotilla 42 presented participants with key contents of Vietnam’s 2017 Law on Fisheries, the 2018 Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard, and legal documents related to combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. These included Government Decree No.37/2019/ND-CP, which amends and supplements Decree No.26/2019/ND-CP detailing the implementation of the Law on Fisheries; Decree No.38/2021/ND-CP on administrative violations in the fisheries sector; and Resolution No.04/2020/NQ-HDTP of the Supreme People’s Court, providing guidance on applying provisions of the Penal Code regarding illegal exploitation, trading, and transportation of aquatic products.

In addition, Flotilla 42’s personnel handed over 130 gifts to policy beneficiaries, disadvantaged fishermen, and contributors to national causes in Song Doc Town. They also distributed 300 national flags, 30 first-aid kits, and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh, along with over 300 informational leaflets to trawlers docked at Song Doc fishing port. In cooperation with local authorities and youth unions, they cleaned nearly 2 kilometers of coastal roads and collected approximately 500 kilograms of plastic waste and bags.

Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Minh Hien, Political Commissar of Flotilla 42, noted that the “Coast Guards Stand by Fishermen” program held significant practical meaning. It reflects the tradition of solidarity, mutual support, and timely care for needy fishermen and students. These activities demonstrated the commitment and compassion of the Coast Guard force in general, and Flotilla 42 in particular, toward local communities, especially policy beneficiaries and underprivileged fishermen, helping them venture out and remain resilient at sea.
