Early New Year celebrations for Dao San ethnic group
PANO - The Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Women’s Union, the Red Cross Society, and the People’s Committee of Phong Tho district co-organized the “Border spring warms up border people's hearts” program on January 1 in Hop 1 hamlet, Dao San commune, Phong Tho district.

In recent years, actualizing the Prime Minister’s directive on organizing the movement of mobilizing the people to protect national sovereignty and border security in the new context, two villages, 18 households in Ma Can and San Cha hamlets have participated in managing 6.727 kilometers of border and two border markers. Additionally, 13 security self-management teams with 85 members have been established, and 100% of the households have signed commitments to join this movement.

The program featured cultural and artistic activities, chung cake (square glutinous rice cake) making and cooking, sticky rice cake pounding, folk games, "Zero-VND stalls," health check-ups, medical consultations, free haircuts, and more.

On this occasion, the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command presented Tet gifts, national flags, and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh to 138 households in Hop 1 village. They also gave gifts to nine policy beneficiaries and four students in the “Paving the way to school for children - Border station’s foster children” program.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Political Commissar of the Lai Chau provincial Border Guard Command Senior Colonel Le Cong Thanh and Standing Deputy Secretary of Phong Tho district’s Party Committee Nguyen Van Thanh, expressed their hope that in the coming time, Dao San commune and Hop 1 village would continue to develop and rise to become a "bright spot in the border region," working together with the border guard to effectively implement the national border defense strategy.
