The post has applied different ways to each family to help them develop household economy, thus eliminating hunger and reducing poverty.
For the poor family of parishioner Nguyen Thi Nham, whose parents are over 80 years old, the post has guided them to follow the breeding sow model. The unit has provided them with two pairs of breeding sows and after one year, they have given birth to 15 pigs. The model, as Nham said, is suitable for her family since she could take advantage of the family's leftover food while still having time to take care of her elderly parents.
According to Secretary of the Party Committee of Hamlet 5 Bui Thanh Nghiem in Dien Hai commune, Dien Thanh Border Post has coordinated with local authorities to assist people in developing their economy with different effective models. This year, the post has supported two poor households in raising pigs and cows. The post-assisted models help families earn VND 20-30 million a year. “This is a source of encouragement to families to eliminate poverty and a model for other households to follow,” said Nghiem.

Managing the locality with nearly 900 poor households, the post has raised funds from society to help local people build six models for growing clean vegetables and raising livestock and poultry. The post has also fostered a child of a parishioner under the program “Paying the way to school for children - Adopted children of border post.”
Major Nguyen Canh Si, Deputy Political Commissar of Dien Thanh Border Post, shared that though facing many difficulties in carrying out models for local people, the post has tried its best to help households select suitable plants and animals to make those models effective. Good models will be multiplied in the locality in the future.
The post’s activities have helped change the locality and local people’s life, contributing to tightening the troops-people solidarity, and building firm border areas and defending national border sovereignty and security.
