The Coast Guard Region 4 Command presents a national flag to a local fisherman.

During the program, the coast guards introduced to more than 200 local people the Vietnam Coast Guard Law 2018 and other regulations to avoid illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing at sea. They distributed 500 leaflets, 200 brochures to local fishermen and presented 600 national flags, 30 portraits of Uncle Ho, and 30 medicine cabinets to 30 local trawlers as well.

In response to the peak month “Joining hands for the poor” in 2022, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command also gave gifts to 100 beneficiary families, disadvantaged fishermen in the locality; 10 bikes and 150 scholarships to students from Son Hai Primary and Secondary Schools.

On this occasion, the command teamed with Hung Vuong Hospital and other medical staff of Kien Luong district to provide free health check-ups, health counselling and medicines for over 210 people. Meanwhile, its Women's and Youth Unions' members partnered with troops from the Border Post of Hon Chung Port Border Gate, relevant Kien Luong district’s departments and organizations and local people to collect and treat nearly 2 tons of waste with the aim of protecting the sea environment.

Stressing the practical, significant meaning of the program, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Head of the People’s Council of Kien Luong district Ong Van Dai said that it showed the command’s sentiments and responsibility in realizing the Party’s guideline and the State’s laws and its timely support for needy local people to early stabilize their life and for local students to strive in their study.

Joining hands to protect the sea environment

The program contributed to promoting the solidarity and close-knit ties between troops and people. It also helped nurture the patriotism, and love for national sea and islands, as well as raise local people’s responsibility to build and safeguard national sovereignty over, security, order, and safety in the southwestern waters of the nation.
