This year, the border guard force has received a total of VND 54 billion to implement the project “Military officers and soldiers paving the way to school for children,” and the project under the national target program to develop socio-economy in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021-2025 period.

Accordingly, 400 students facing specially-disadvantaged life have been adopted, and 5,437 disadvantaged students have received financial support. Among them, 195 adopted children and 2,019 other students have been assisted by 13 units under the Ministry of National Defense while the remaining under the responsibility of the Vietnam Border Guard’s 26 affiliated units.

Attentively, in the 2023-2024 new school year, border guard units have presented 9,600 gifts, worth VND 4.2 billion in total, more than 1,000 scholarships valued at over VND 1.2 billion, 208 bikes, 15 solar power lamps, 81 water filters, over 1,200 sets of clothes, 350kg of rice, more than 13,000 notebooks, to students and schools nationwide. They have also sent troops to upgrade schools in border areas.

Also this year, the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Nghe An provincial People’s Committee organized a full-moon festival for students in Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district, during which hundreds of gifts and scholarships were presented to needy students with good academic records, among others.
