Young coast guard officers confirm stance and aspiration for devotion

Reportedly, last year, all young coast guard cadres and officers pioneered in training, observing discipline, building strong and exemplary party organizations and units. They effectively disseminated information on maritime law to Vietnamese fishermen, drove away or prevented hundreds of foreign fishing vessels from encroaching Vietnam’s waters and actively engaged in search and rescue missions. In addition, they took the lead in prevention and control of crimes, violations at sea and coastal areas.

Moreover, they well conducted international cooperation and defense diplomacy activities, including the third Vietnam - China coast guard officers exchange, joint patrols in the waters adjacent to the delimitation line in the Gulf of Tonkin, and joint exercises with Japan and Korean coast guard forces.

With their outstanding achievements in preventing crimes and violations of law at sea in 2023, the Vietnam coast guard force had 12 collectives and 14 individuals awarded by the Ministry of National Defense.

In his speech, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai emphasized that the Party committee and leadership of the command always pay due attention to and create favorable conditions for young coast guard officers to develop. He asked party committees and chains-of-command at all levels to pro-actively give recommendations to higher levels to help young coast guard cadres and officers promote their role and responsibility in duty performance.

For young coast guard cadres and officers, he urged them to devote themselves to the country, dare to think, to do, to take responsibility and heighten vigilance against hostile forces’ plots of sabotage. They should also further study, improve their professional expertise, do scientific research, master technology and modern weapons and equipment, contributing to building a revolutionary, standardized, elite and modern Vietnam coast guard force that completes all assigned missions.
