The General Staff has also continued implementing the Central Military Commission’s plan on streamlining the Vietnam People’s Army for the 2021–2030 period and beyond, while ensuring weapons and technical equipment support for units carrying out training and combat readiness missions.
Concluding the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong praised agencies and units for their recent achievements and requested the entire military to continue maintaining strict combat readiness, closely monitor all developments, and effectively respond to arising situations.
He called for stronger patrols and inspections to prevent illegal border crossings, measures to prevent foreign vessels from violating Vietnam’s waters, and stricter efforts against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. He also emphasized tighter management of unmanned aerial vehicles, stricter cyberspace control, and ensuring communications and cryptographic support for all missions.
Units were instructed to maintain discipline, ensure traffic safety, and remain ready for search and rescue operations, while effectively responding to natural disasters, epidemics, and environmental incidents. Functional agencies and units were also tasked with monitoring electronic warfare situations in key areas and continuing defense diplomacy, international cooperation, and United Nations peacekeeping activities.
On this occasion, under authorization of the State President, General Nguyen Tan Cuong presented the Second-class Feat-of-Arms Order to Major General Nguyen Thanh Huy, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department under the Ministry of National Defense, for outstanding achievements in combating drug-related crimes and contributing to political security, social order, and public safety.
