General Lich made that suggestion at a meeting with Senior Lieutenant General Xu Qiliang, Deputy Chief of the Chinese Central Military Commission on the sidelines of the ongoing ninth Beijing Xiangshan Forum in Beijing, China.
Leading a high-ranking military delegation to participate in the forum, General Lich emphasized that the forum is important for participating countries to voice their standpoints on vital security issues in the region and the world.
At the meeting, both generals agreed that the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership has reaped positive and practical outcomes in recent years.

They stressed that the common concepts of the two Parties’ and States’ leaders are a firm foundation for the two sides to consolidate the political trust and to develop the two countries’ relations in a healthy and sustainable manner.
Apart from the above-mentioned suggestions, General Lich also noted the maintenance of defense policy dialogues at the deputy-ministerial level, active preparations for the sixth border defense friendship exchange, and further cooperation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Regarding the existing issues in the bilateral relations, both senior officers said that Vietnam and China should have regular and straightforward discussions to properly deal with them in accordance with the agreements reached by the two countries’ senior leaders for the benefits of people of the two countries and contributing to regional peace, stability and development.
Emphasizing the global and regional situations are developing complicatedly, General Xu said that instead of confrontation, states should boost dialogues and cooperation to maintain an environment of peace and stability for development.
Agreeing with General Xu’s view, General Lich stressed that countries should join hands in coping with the current security challenges.
On the occasion, General Lich invited General Xu to visit Vietnam and the Chinese general agreed to visit the country soon.
