An overview of the conference |
Over the past time, the Vietnam Border Guard has stepped up digital transformation and applied science and technology to all aspects of its work. Ranging from modern border command and surveillance systems to immigration management and crime prevention, these efforts have enhanced the efficiency of border protection. They have also assisted local authorities and ethnic minorities in socio-economic development, safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.
Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized that in the new development era, border residents need not only support in daily life, social welfare, and legal matters, but also companionship to enter the digital space safely, confidently, and effectively. This reflects the profound humanistic value and socio-political vision of the model. By putting the people at the center, taking technology as the key tool, and the soldiers’ responsibility and enthusiasm as the core driving force, the model demonstrates a pro-active and creative spirit dedicated to the people.
Accordingly, border guard working groups will directly visit every village to instruct locals on how to use smartphones and the internet safely, access online public services, study on digital platforms, and participate in e-commerce. Meanwhile, the deployment of an “electronic mailbox for receiving crime reports” via QR codes facilitates people’s participation in maintaining security and order right from the grassroots level, contributing to building a firm whole-people border defense posture.
