Troops of Regiment 295 stamping out the fire

The blaze occurred at 18:30 the same day in the Thien Van forest.

Due to the dry weather and strong winds, the blaze broke out quickly. Having spotted the fire, the chain-of-command of Regiment 295 mobilized nearly 200 troops, led by Senior Colonel Ngo Quoc Viet, the regiment’s Political Commissar, to rush to the scene to put out the fire.

Troops created firebreaks to prevent the fire from spreading.

At 20:00 the same day, the fire was put under control while all participating people and equipment were safe.

Covering nearly 50 hectares, the Thien Van forest is home to mainly 25-year-old eucalyptus and acacia trees.

Since the beginning of this year, the regiment has three times sent its troops to help localities put out big bushfires. Its troops have also joined hands in extinguishing other smaller fires in the area where they are stationed.
