The top legislator was joined by Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich, Deputy NA Chairman General Do Ba Ty, NA General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh.

Speaking at the meeting, NA Chairwoman Ngan highlighted the strong development of the force since its establishment 57 years ago. Over the past years, the Air Defense - Air Force Service has been a core force in managing and safeguarding the nation’s air space and ready to fight to firmly protect the nation’s targets. Generations of air defense and air force troops have actively promoted national tradition, stance of the heroic People’s Army of Vietnam, and virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. Creative and indomitable troops have achieved remarkable feats-of-arm, contributing to enriching the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army in the resistance wars for national independence in the past and in the current national construction and defense cause.
On behalf of the Party and State, the NA Chairwoman praised the efforts exerted by air defense - air force troops to obtain brilliant feats-of-arms. She emphasized that the situation in the region and the world has been developing complicatedly and unpredictably, though countries worldwide still consider peace and cooperation for development the decisive trend. Therefore, the Vietnam People’s Army in general and the Air Defense - Air Force Service in particular should continue innovating and promoting their role as the key force in developing defense power and safeguarding the nation.
The top legislator asked the force to thoroughly embrace and effectively implement resolutions and directives of the Party, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Air Defense - Air Force Service’s Party Committee. Air defense and air force units were encouraged to raise their combat strength, so as to meet the requirements of the air space protection missions.

The Party committees of the Air Defense - Air Force Service and its units at all levels should promote their leadership over the implementation of political missions, contributing to building it into a politically-, ideologically, and organizationally-strong force. They should also make further recommendations to the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense to build the force strong enough to meet the requirements of missions in the new period.
The NA Chairwoman urged the force to pay attention to raising the quality of training and combat readiness missions, building a contingent of competent personnel, taking care of troops, strengthening the relationship with local people, and participating in socio-economic development programs, including hunger elimination, poverty reduction and new-styled rural area building.
Sharing difficulties and hardship with the air defense and air force troops, especially those in action in remote, border, and mountainous areas and on islands, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed strong belief that the troops will continue promoting existing results and be determined to build a strong force to firmly protect the air space in any circumstances, thus helping the Party, people, and military to successfully fulfill national construction and defense cause.
