Present at the meeting were Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff; Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, and representatives of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense.

At the meeting, Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, Commander of the service, reported the service’s personnel organization, quality of pilots, training and combat readiness capabilities to General Lich.

Accordingly, over the past year, the service has improved its organization as an elite unit, conducted flight training in line with reality, well organized exercises to evaluate the integrated operations of arms, services and other forces, and strictly maintained combat readiness.

In the service’s task performance, General Vinh also reported on other limitations and shortcomings facing the service’s air force.

Addressing the event, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Lich applauded and acknowledged all-out efforts and achievements gained by the service, including the air force, over the past year.

The Defense Minister requested the service to continue embracing the Party’s resolutions and directives on Fatherland safeguarding missions in the current period, actively give recommendations to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on issues related to air defense and air force while well organizing personnel to meet the service’s missions.

The service should improve the quality of pilot training, pilots’ expertise and political stance, continue negotiating with their foreign partners about cooperation in pilot training, and supplement policies for pilots, flight crews and other related people, General Lich said.

He also asked the service to promote the quality of political and ideological education, emulation and reward work, “Determined to Win” emulation movement, as well as improve the efficiency in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals and lifestyle.
