Seminar points out security issues in medical sector
PANO – The People’s Security Academy held a seminar, themed “Ensuring security and order in Vietnam’s medical sector - Theory and practice," on November 3 under the chair of its President Lieutenant General Le Van Thang.
The event was also attended by leaders of the Health Ministry, representatives from agencies and units under the Ministry of Public Security and experts in political security sector.
During the event, dozens of reports focused on contents, including the protection of internal political security of medical agencies and organization and combat of health sector-related crimes and violations.
Delegates said that the seminar took place in the context that hostile forces are taking advantage of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic to sabotage the Party and State. Border areas have seen an increase in the number of illegal immigration cases.
Speaking at the event, Head of the Department of Border Gate Management under the Vietnam Border Guard Command Senior Colonel Phan Huu Tiep said that current situations require relevant agencies to strictly follow situational developments, management measures and policies on entry and exit of Vietnam and other neighboring countries. They also have to strictly observe directions of the Government and the National Steering Committee on the COVID-19 Prevention and Control, so as to raise the effectiveness of border gate and entry and exit management.

The fact also shows that the number of medical sector-related crimes and violations have increased. Cases of producing counterfeit medicine, faking documents, raising the price of medicines and medical supplies have been discovered, causing huge losses to the State’s asset and anger in the community. Various violence cases have occurred at medical establishments, affecting security in these areas.
To ensure security and order at healthcare facilities, Head of Internal Political Security Division of Hanoi’s Public Security Department Senior Colonel Nghiem Thi Minh Huong emphasized the need to build a coordination mechanism between security forces and medical establishments. Relevant agencies should review their task implementation, draw experiences and put forward more suitable measures to deal with violation cases. She affirmed that the close coordination between the security force and the medical sector would contribute to preventing the above-mentioned problems in an effective manner.
Concluding the seminar, Lieutenant General Le Van Thang emphasized that delegates identified various security issues in medical sector and contributed experiences in using forces in ensuring medical security and order. These constructive ideas will contribute to ensuring national security and public order in the new normal state and enriching documents for the academy’s training and scientific research in the coming time.
