Scientific seminar highlights Dien Bien Phu Victory

The event was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Bao, Director of the Political Academy; Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper; and Assoc. Prof., Dr. Nguyen Danh Tien, Head of the Institute of Party History.

In his opening speech, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Bao underlined that 70 years ago, from March 13 to May 7, 1954, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam made the Dien Bien Phu Victory. The victory directly led to the signing of the Geneva Accords on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina.

Thus, the seminar aimed to further heighten the sound and creative leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. It was also an opportunity to review the nation's glorious revolutionary tradition, contributing to educating the young generation, building trust, determination, and upholding the responsibility of officers, lecturers, reporter, students, staff, and soldiers of the three units in building and protecting the Fatherland in the current context.

An overview of the seminar

Delivering his guiding speech, Major General Doan Xuan Bo stressed the remarkable significance of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Up to now, there have been hundreds of books and tens of thousands of articles, many seminars and conferences to summarize combat experience, many scientific works inside and outside the country aiming at analyzing how the Vietnamese people and troops made the victory that “resounded across the five continents and shook the globe.”
