To realize the Defense Minister’s decision on organizing celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of the GS’s inception, the GS directed the Vietnam Institute for Defense Strategy and History to coordinate with other agencies and units to build a plan for this scientific conference.

Accordingly, under the theme “The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army – 80 years of building, combat, and development, firmly entering the new era of the nation,” the conference will focus its discussions on clarifying the GS’s growth, and its great contribution to the nation’s revolution and Fatherland defense cause. Experience and historical lessons will be also drawn to help develop this strategic staff agency in an elite, streamlined, strong and modernized direction to meet the task requirement of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.

So far, the institute has pro-actively worked with relevant agencies and units to make preparations, asked historical witnesses and scientists inside and outside the military for presentations with contents ensuring objectivity, scientific rigor, new theoretical and practical insights and reference to the current military building and organization.

In his speech, Gen. Cuong emphasized the important significance of the conference. He requested relevant agencies and units to raise their sense of responsibility, exert great efforts to complete assigned tasks, contributing to the overall success of the event. In addition, they must edit the submitted papers to ensure their accuracy and quality and the conference proceedings must be published no later than August 1, 2025.
