Speaking at the seminar, Major General Nguyen Van Duc affirmed that Vietnamese troops have the honor to be named “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers.” The familiar and noble title shows troops’ special love for President Ho Chi Minh and vice versa, and demonstrated beautiful virtues of troops of the Vietnam People’s Army which was born from the people to fight for the people, led, educated and trained by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh and protected and taken care of by the people.
Duc recited President Ho Chi Minh’s saying, “Our military, loyal to the Party, pious to the people and ready to fight and sacrifice their lives for independence and freedom of the homeland and socialism, will accomplish any tasks, overcome any difficulties and defeat any enemies.” Love for comrades, strict observance of disciplines, faithfulness to international friends, creativeness, ingenuousness, courage and high sense of responsibility for task accomplishment build up noble values of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, he added.
Reports delivered at the seminar clarified the need to preserve and promote the noble title, good virtues and traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and to consolidate the Party’s, State’s and people’s trust in the Uncle Ho’s soldiers which was key to the success of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Participants affirmed that each troop can make contribution to upholding the beautiful image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers through words, deeds, achievements in training, combat readiness, production, self-discipline and unit-building.
These ideas raised at the event aimed to reaffirm the missions of the Vietnam People’s Army in the new period and promote the movement of “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morals and life style” and the implementation of a resolution on Party building and revamping and the movement “Promoting traditions, contributing talent, deserving to be Uncle Ho's soldiers.”
They also contributed to raising troops’ awareness of and responsibility for task accomplishment, combating the plot of “military depoliticization” and distorted information operation run by hostile forces and preventing “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” phenomena.
