The event was chaired by GS’s Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Education and Information Major General Le Xuan Sang, and representatives of agencies and units in the whole military and under the MND and GS.

According to a report delivered by Director of the GS’s Department of Military Training Major General Thai Van Minh, under the close and timely direction from the Central Military Commission and leaders of the MND, the GS, and the General Department of Political Affairs, agencies and units actively overcame all difficulties and excellently accomplished the mission of participating in the Army Games 2022.

This year, seven out of ten participating teams of the VPA won medals of different kinds, including one gold, two silver, and four bronze. With the achievements, the Vietnamese delegation ranked fifth among 34 participating countries, exceeding the set target.

Major General Thai Van Minh suggested hosting two contents within the Army Games 2023, “Emergency Area” and “Sniper Frontier.”

At the conference, representatives of agencies and units participating in the Army Games pointed out difficulties of joining the event and proposed orientations for their participation in the Army Games 2023 and the years to come.

Concluding the event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia praised collectives and individuals, members of the steering committee, the organizing panel, relevant agencies, and leaders of units for their timely direction and close coordination in training forces to compete in contents of the Army Games 2022 and successfully hosting the “Emergency Area” contest.

Regarding Vietnam’s participation in and hosting of events within the Army Games 2023, General Nghia assigned agencies and units to pro-actively make preparations and select and train members of teams to compete in contents, namely “Tank Biathlon,” “Masters of Artillery Fire,” “Confident Reception,” “Safe Environment,” “Tactical Shooters,” “Emergency Area,” “Meridian,” “Army of Culture,” “Field Kitchen,” “Military Medical Relay Race,” and “Gunsmith Master.” Participating teams will start training on March 1, 2023.

The GS’s deputy chief agreed with the suggestion on hosting “Emergency Area” and “Sniper Frontier” contents within the Army Games 2023.

He added that after receiving direction from the defense minister and directives on military and defense missions in 2023, agencies and units should actively work together to make good preparations for the Vietnamese teams’ competitions in the games and hosting of events.
