Officers and cadets of the Border Guard Academy depart for the COVID-19 prevention and control mission in border areas
PANO – A delegation of the Border Guard Command, on January 11, met to encourage officers and cadets from the Border Guard Academy about to leave for border guard units in border areas for the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) 2021 holiday.
Chief of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Major General Le Duc Thai directly assigned missions and presented gifts to the officers and cadets.
As planned, the second and third-year cadets will undertake combat readiness duties during the coming Tet holiday.

However, due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and illegal border crossings, the Vietnam Border Guard Command decided to mobilize 460 officers and cadets from the Border Guard Academy to border guard units in two northern border and three southern border provinces in order to manage border gates and paths, detect and prevent illegal crossings so as to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic during Tet holiday.
All the officers and cadets are determined to overcome all difficulties and challenges to successfully accomplish their assigned tasks.
In addition, the Vietnam Border Guard Command asked functional agencies and units to ensure the quality of life of the border forces on duty in border areas, especially the newly-supplemented troops tasked with COVID-19 prevention and control during upcoming Tet holiday.
