* The Binh Thuan Provincial Steering Committee on Mass Mobilization, Defense and Security launched a program to provide health check-ups and free medicines for over 400 needy people and handed over gifts, worth VND 300,000 each, to 175 policy beneficiaries in Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district.
The organizers also mobilized 200 troops to assist locals’ production and inform them of the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies.
* The Ho Chi Minh Municipal Military Command has just launched an emulation drive to welcome the anniversaries.
Accordingly, the chain-of-commands and Party committees of units at all levels were asked to enhance political and ideological education for troops while maintaining the military discipline and combat readiness during the event.
* The Yen Bai Provincial Military Command, in association with the Provincial Association of Historical Science and the Club of Yen Ninh Battalions, held a conference to celebrate the 51st founding anniversary of Yen Ninh Battalions.
At the event, delegates recalled the VPA’s heroic traditions and efforts of the Provincial Military Command in building up four battalions to combat in the Southern theater in the past.
* The traditional liaison board of the Personnel Department of the Central Office for South Vietnam held a gathering for its members on December 15.
At the event, delegates recalled their achievements during the national resistance war against American invaders, especially in recruiting personnel for the military, significantly contributing to liberating the South and reunifying the country.
* The traditional club of the Armed and Commando Force of the Sai Gon – Gia Dinh military region held a meeting on December 15 to celebrate VPA’s anniversary and review their glorious traditions. During the national resistance wars against foreign invaders, the city’s commandos won various battles.
The meeting is an annual event for the club members to commemorate their feats of arms and encourage each other to have better lives.
* The Hai Duong Provincial Military Command has just inaugurated and handed over a house to the family of non-commissioned officer Lieutenant Pham Van Tuan, who works at the Kim Thanh District Military Command.
The 70sq.m house was completed after six months of construction.
* The Department of Logistics of the Navy, in association with local authorities, presented a house of gratitude to the family of Ngo Thi Kien, kin of martyr Ngo Van Thanh, who had sacrificed in the Western theater in 1970.
The 60sq.m was built at a total cost of VND 320 million, of which VND 70 million came from the Navy’s gratitude fund. It was completed after six months of construction.
* The Hai Chau District People’s Committee held a gathering for over 1,000 retired military officers in the area. During the meeting, participants recalled VPA’s heroic traditions in the national resistance wars against foreign invaders for independence and freedom.
