Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy-Director of the General Department of Politics, attended and chaired the event with the presence of representatives of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, the functional organs of the Ministry of National Defense, and 50 staff and reporters from press agencies both inside and outside the army.

Delivering a speech at the event, General Nghia reaffirmed the significant role of Vietnam’s revolutionary press during the struggle for national liberation and the building of socialism. He said that the press contributed to encouraging the whole army troops to overcome hardships and fulfill their assigned missions over the past year. Particularly, the army promptly reflected outstanding individuals and groups, contributing to promoting the emulation drives as well as improving the combined combat strength of military units.

The General also conveyed regards of General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of National Defense, to the press agencies.

During the meeting, participants extended greetings to each other on the occasion of VPA’s 73rd founding anniversary, hoping that the force would fulfill all the 2018 missions with good results following the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

* On the same day, a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh municipal leadership, led by its Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, visited and congratulated Military Region 7, the municipal Military Command, and Division 367 of the Air Defense-Air Force Service on the occasion of the VPA’s founding day.

On behalf of the city’s leadership, Secretary Nhan highly valued efforts and responsibilities of local military units, in which contributed to supporting the city to fulfill its military-defense missions. He also hoped that the municipal armed forces would continue to maintain their combat readiness, building strong Party organizations and comprehensive strong units.

* The Political Academy under the Ministry of National Defense also held a similar event to gather the all-level party committees and authorities of Hanoi and Dinh Hoa district of Thai Nguyen province. At the event, they reviewed their collaboration over the past year, particularly in disseminating information related to the Party’s guidelines and the State’s law, and so on.

Notably, the academy in association with local authorities launched several healthcare programs in Dinh Hoa district, providing free medicines for hundreds of people, presenting gifts to policy beneficiaries and handing over houses to national contributors.
