During the first six months of 2026, under the leadership and direction of the GDDI’s Party Committee, agencies and units under the general department well implemented their assigned missions. They closely monitored situational developments and accurately assessed trends, particularly in science and technology and weapons and military equipment. The Government’s Action Program and the Ministry of National Defense (MND)’s Plan on carrying out the Politburo’s Resolution on accelerating defense industry development have been drastically implemented.

The Party Committee pro-actively researched and advised the Party, the State, the Government, the Central Military Commission (CMC), and the MND on policies, programs, and projects supporting the growth of Vietnam’s defense industry. The legal framework governing the sector continued to be improved and standardized. At the same time, the general department effectively organized science and technology programs, with particular emphasis on the research, design, and production of high-tech weapons.
Political and ideological education, tradition education, emulation movements, and commendation work were implemented effectively, helping strengthen awareness and responsibility among officers, soldiers, defense employees, and workers. Mass mobilization activities and grassroots democracy were carried out effectively, while military policies, support for military families, and gratitude programs received due attention. Administrative reform and digital transformation also achieved positive results, and logistics support fully met operational requirements.
Addressing the conference, General Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that 2026 is a pivotal year in implementing the Resolution of the 12th Military Party Congress, particularly the goal of building the Vietnam People's Army into a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modernized force. He stressed that the defense industry must achieve breakthrough development to meet the demands of the new situation.
He called on the GDDI’s Party Committee to thoroughly implement the directives of the Politburo and the CMC while leading the execution of action programs to realize the resolutions adopted by Party congresses at all levels for the 2025–2030 term. He also urged the committee to continue providing strategic advice to the Party, the State, the CMC, and MND on policies, legal frameworks, and solutions for defense industry development.
The GDP’s Chief further highlighted the need to accelerate breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and administrative reform, with priority given to researching, designing, manufacturing, and producing advanced, modern weapons and military equipment of strategic significance.
He also directed the general department to complete the restructuring of defense enterprises to make them leaner, stronger, and more efficient; expand defense production while achieving stronger economic output; and fulfill its production and business target set for 2026.
Concluding his remarks, General Nghia instructed the GDDI to fully implement plans addressing existing shortcomings; build the general department into an exemplary and comprehensively strong organization, strong Party organization; maintain internal unity; and successfully accomplish all assigned tasks in 2026.
