PANO - Seen as magicians, naval sappers have to undergo a number of difficult exercises to ensure fitness and an iron will.

They practice on different terrains and learn how to deal with dangerous animals, insects and sea creatures, such as jelly fish and sharks.

Colonel Hoang Van Kien, Commissar of Commando Unit 5 under the Commando Arm, said that sappers are carefully screened and undergo intensive training. As a result, all naval sappers are good at martial arts, tactics and effectively take advantage of all kinds of weapons and equipment used at sea, contributing to fulfilling their assigned tasks.

Here are some photos of their daily practice.
