The event was attended by Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of Public Security General To Lam, and Minister and Chief of the Office of the Government Mai Tien Dung, among others.

At the event, delegates reported on the results of the development of the national defense and security industry over the past time.

Accordingly, the industry has been developed comprehensively under the leadership of the Party and the State, contributing to fulfilling political missions assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister. Many legal documents were issued in a bid to complete the procedures for monitoring the national defense and security industry.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Phuc, who is also Head of the State Steering Committee for the Development of National Defense-Security Industry, lauded the efforts of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security as well as the close coordination of relevant ministries and agencies in performing the assigned tasks.

He affirmed that building and developing the national defense and security industry is a significant and urgent task, a long-term strategic mission, and the responsibility of the entire Party, people, and armed forces.

Amid rapid developments in the region, the world and Industry 4.0, he stressed the need to make breakthroughs in studying and manufacturing national defense and security products by using modern technology.

The Committee was also asked to step up relevant programs, refine policies and mechanisms, review the implementation of the Ordinance on National Defense Industry, and propose laws for the national defense industry.

The PM requested attracting quality workers to work in the defense and security industry, combining the defense and production with production for civilian purposes to improve workers’ standards of living, while promoting cooperation with foreign partners to boost the export of defense and security industrial products.

According to the Committee, Vietnam’s national defense and security capability has been improving in both breadth and depth over recent years.

The Ministry of Public Security initially manufactured several types of technical equipment for the People’s Public Security Forces and for exports.
