The activity is part of a recently launched program by the newspaper that supports military forces in containing COVID-19.
Accordingly, the newspaper handed over five disinfectant sprayers, 100 pieces of protective clothing, 2,500 facemasks, 100 hand sanitizer bottles and ten thermometers to the military command.
Over the past time, the provincial Military Command cooperated with the provincial Health Department to quarantine around 500 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from pandemic-hit areas. In spite of facing numerous difficulties, the provincial Military Command has created favorable conditions for quarantined people.
At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Commissar of the provincial Military Command, thanked the People’s Army Newspaper and benefactors for the gifts and promised that the unit will soon deliver the gifts to forces participating in the fight against COVID-19 in the province.
The mission also visited and presented gifts to troops from the Military Command of Dien Bien city who are working in a quarantine area in Ta Leng commune.
On the same day, the delegation handed over five disinfectant sprayers, 100 pieces of protective clothing, 2,000 facemasks, 100 hand sanitizer bottles and ten thermometers to the provincial Border Guard Command.
Senior Colonel Le Duc Nghia, Deputy Commissar of the Border Guard Command, said that over the past time the unit has set up dozens of teams to patrol and guard in border areas and border gates to detect infected cases and prevent illegal immigration.
In the time to come, the People’s Army Newspaper will continue activities to support forces’ efforts in fighting COVID-19. The newspaper expects to receive more donations from domestic and foreign agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals.
