General Chiem works with Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command.

During the mission, General Chiem, who is also head of the Steering Committee 1389 (Steering Committee for the National Plan on Combat against Drug Crime, Human Trafficking, Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit and on Practice of Thrift and Anti-wastefulness), inspected the combat readiness in combating and preventing crimes, especially drug trafficking and smuggling of other illegal products, of border units along the borderline.

Having briefed by the border posts, the general hailed the achievements of the border troops in crime prevention and suppression over the past time. He required the border troops of the two provinces to continue grasping instruction and resolutions of central agencies and the Ministry of National Defense in implementing the steering committee’s work. The units are to better carry out education and dissemination of laws to locals in border communes and well coordinate with the police and other forces in crime prevention and in sovereignty protection and security maintenance in border areas.
