Kon Tum border troops’ task performance highlighted
PANO - Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem applauded the Kon Tum provincial Border Guard Command for their outcomes in exercising combat readiness, patrol and border protection as well as in preventing trade fraud, smuggling and drug trafficking.

General Chiem, head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the National Plan on Combat against Drug, Human Trafficking, Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit and on Practice of Thrift and Anti-wastefulness (Steering Committee 1389 in short) of the Ministry of National Defense made the compliment during an inspection visit to the unit on April 2.
Having listened to reports of the unit’s leadership, General Chiem emphasized the need to promote an exemplary model of the unit’s leadership and to better the education for and management work over cadres and Party members.
He tasked the command to cooperate with local Party organizations and authorities as well as functional forces to keep up with any developments in the locality, effectively prevent crimes, promote external border affairs, be united and well coordinate with Laos’ and Cambodia’s armed forces to solve effectively arising issues and defend political security, social order and safety along the borderline, contributing to the building of a peaceful and developing border area.
Earlier, General Chiem and his entourage inspected the borderline in Kon Tum province and worked with two border posts, namely Dak Xu and Bo Y International Border Gate.
