That was a mockup situation that Thuan Ha commune’s standing militia post conducted for its troops.

Right after finishing the training session, militiamen Pham Van Ngoc and Luong Van Tuan quickly moved to border marker No.54 to take their shift and team up with troops of Border Station 765 under the Dak Nong provincial Border Guard Command to patrol along the borderline.

According to Nguyen Viet Dung, Second-in-Command Officer of the Thuan Ha commune Military Command, the weather conditions in this area are very harsh. In the dry season, reeds cover the entire hillsides and cliffs, making observing and detecting targets difficult. In the rainy season, flood waters often rise, causing landslides at any time. Therefore, in the high-risk areas, the unit enhanced conducting patrols to detect and prevent illegal exit and entry in a timely manner.

In order to ensure security and order, the standing militia force actively coordinate with functional forces to follow the situations while promoting information dissemination to raise local people’s awareness of and responsibility for crime prevention and fighting and illegal border crossing.

Reportedly, at the end of 2022, the barracks of the standing militia post of Thuan Ha commune was rebuilt. However, due to the fact that the post is in the remote area far from residential areas and lack of electricity, troops’ living conditions are still very difficult. However, with high determination, troops raised goats and pigs and planted vegetables to improve their living standards.

Militiaman Phung Van Dat shared that despite difficult living conditions, all troops are clearly aware of their responsibility, stay united and support each other to accomplish assigned missions.
