The Board for Women Advancement under the Ministry of National Defense (MND) held a meeting in the presence of Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics and deputy head of the board.

Reportedly, the work for women advancement and gender equality in the military has received much care from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels. Vietnam’s military women have taken part in various fields and gained many achievements, proving their increasingly important roles in all walks of life. Notably, around 32 percent of the overall female personnel are holding leadership positions in the military.

Speaking at the event, General Van applauded achievements of the work for women advancement and gender equality in the military while asking the Board for Women Advancement to promote its leading role and collaborate with relevant agencies to successfully implement the set plans in the time to come.

* The same day, Military Region 2 also held a similar event to review its 2019 task performance and deployed the 2020 missions. Accordingly, the military region’s Party Committee and Chain of Command have closely collaborated with local authorities to effectively implement higher levels’ directives and improve training quality and combat readiness, contributing to building strong political organizations and a firm whole people's defense disposition.

* The Coast Guard Command held a conference on December 25 to assess its task implementation over the past year and map out missions for 2020. Reports at the event affirmed that the force has comprehensively and effectively implemented the assigned tasks with a focus on enhancing law enforcement at sea, providing law education and dissemination for fishermen as well as carrying out search and rescue missions. Notably, the coast guard vessels detected over 3,500 ships violating Vietnamese waters and collaborated with relevant forces to save 230 people and 24 ships in distress at sea over the past year. In 2020, the force is determined to fulfill all assigned tasks, continuing to build a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern coast guard force.

At the meeting of Military Region 2

* The Department of Military Security Protection of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army launched their 2020 tasks at a meeting on December 25. According to a  report at the event, the agency’s leadership provided timely advice for higher levels to ensure military security, fight against the agendas of “peaceful evolution” and “de-politicization of the military” by hostile forces, and safeguarded activities of the Party, the State and the military over the past year. The department planned to continue predicting and evaluating situations, ensuring security and safety for the Party congresses at all levels as well as other political events in the country.

* The Department of Standards, Measurements and Quality of the General Staff will concentrate on building national standards for military equipment and assets and guiding relevant agencies to implement registrations for military vehicles, heard a conference held by the Department in Hanoi on December 25.

* The Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (known as Army Corps 18) under the Ministry of National Defense has just held a meeting to review its task performance in 2019 and deploy missions for next year. Reportedly, in 2019, the corporation received and operated new helicopters, expanded its flight services to more foreign markets, and organized training sorties for pilot cadets with safety. Next year, the company is scheduled to continue boosting economic activities in combination with reinforcing national defense-military missions, and meeting all task requirements.
