Military units respond to tree-planting festival
PANO – Various units in the whole military have planted trees in response to the national tree-planting festival, initiated by President Ho Chi Minh.
On February 22, the Artillery Officer Training School kicked off its tree-planting festival to embellish its barracks and raise troops’ awareness of and responsibility for tree protection.
On the same day, units of Military Region 3 planted tens of thousands of fruit, timber and shade trees. Among the units, the Quang Ninh provincial Military Command created an exemplary benchmark with more than 16,700 trees planted.
Earlier on February 21, units of the Vietnam People’s Navy kicked off their tree-planting activities. Particularly, the Naval Medicine Institute planted more than 200 shade and fruit trees, while troops of Engineer Brigade 83 planted more than 2,000 acacia auriculiformis trees in a forest in Hoa Khuong district, Da Nang City’s Hoa Ninh district and 100 pine trees in its barrack in Khanh Hoa province’s Cam Ranh city. The same day, troops of the Naval Technical Institute cleaned their barracks and tended the planted trees.
The Quang Nam provincial Military Command planted 300 timber trees, 20 fruit trees and 15 shade trees at the provincial Defense Education Center and around its fuel depot.
Meanwhile, troops of the Lai Chau provincial Military Command planted thousands of trees of different kinds and took care of trees in the barracks.
