Planting trees in Military Region 1
* Addressing the ceremony at Brigade 147 under Naval Region 1, Vice Admiral Dinh Gia That, the Navy’s Political Commissar, asked naval units to promote afforestation and actively and proactively cooperate with local forces to well manage, take care of, and protect the afforested areas. This year, the unit planted around 1,000 trees of different kinds.
* Right after the launch ceremony, 500 troops of Submarine Brigade 189 planted over 500 trees around their barracks to improve the living environment.
* Over the past years, troops and islanders on Truong Sa Dong Island of the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago have actively carried out the annual tree-planting festival, seeing it as a golden chance to raise troops’ awareness of and responsibility for protecting trees and the environment. This year, 40 fruit and ornamental trees were planted on the island.
Earlier, on January 31, troops and islanders on Sinh Ton Island planted more than 100 fruit trees of different kinds.
* This year’s festival attracted the participation of troops of units under the Signal Corps. After the launch ceremony, they planted over 8,600 fruit trees and timber. Since 2010, the whole arm has taken care of 35,000 trees, making contribution to raising troops’ living environment and beautifying their barracks.
* Units of Military Region 3 organized similar activities, planting more than 30,000 trees. To gain such impressive achievements, units made thorough preparations of trees, fertilizers, and soil.
