The event was co-chaired by President of the Military Medical University Lieutenant General Nguyen Trung Kien and General Director of the Vietnam – Russia Tropical Center Major General Dang Hong Trien.
At the conference, leaders of the two units discussed and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in potential fields. According to the document, the two sides will foster cooperation in scientific and technological research and development of kits to detect factors causing infectious diseases. They will also cooperate to study, develop, and conduct pre-clinical and clinical tests of medical, pharmaceutical, and biomedical preparations and medical equipment and assess the impacts of environment and working conditions on troops’ health.
The Military Medical University and the Vietnam – Russia Tropical Center will work together to produce, distribute, and apply medical, pharmaceutical, and biomedical preparations to their task performance. They will also provide long-term or short-term training assistance for each other’s employees, collaborate in other fields to protect troops and people’s health, and foster cooperation with Russian organizations in such fields as training, scientific research, and technology transfer.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Kien highly appreciated the Vietnam – Russia Tropical Center’s scientific projects and professional contribution, especially to the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control. The President of the Military Medical University expected that the two sides will strengthen cooperation to contribute to protecting the nation early and from afar; taking care of troops and people’s health.

For his part, Major General Dang Hong Trien highlighted the tradition, resources for scientific research, and development potentials of the Military Medical University as a leading training, research, and medical treatment establishment of not only the military but also the Vietnamese medical sector.
The General Director of the Vietnam – Russia Tropical Center affirmed that the cooperation between the two sides is based on mutual understanding, voluntariness, equality, mutual benefit, and strict compliance with the State and the Ministry of National Defense’s regulations on science and technology. They agreed to use their own resources to successfully realize cooperation contents.
