Gen. Giang, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, led a mission of the General Staff to work with the provincial command on April 13.
So far, the Yen Bai provincial Military Command has made suggestions to higher levels on related issues, completed documents on the organization of the exercise, drawn up an outline of the exercise with contents focusing on the operation of live-fire contents, prepared training grounds and set time for the exercise.
Noting that Yen Bai is a key location in terms of national defense, Gen. Giang urged the command to well implement the exercise as planned while ensuring high quality, safety, effectiveness and thrifty practice in accordance with the directions of the MND and Military Region 2.
General Giang also highlighted the defensive area exercise, saying that it would help improve leadership abilities of local Party committee and authorities, the locality’s military, defense disposition and defense-security posture as well as local armed forces’ combat readiness to meet the requirements of the national construction and protection in the current context.
Earlier, Gen. Giang paid a courtesy call to leaders of Yen Bai province. He congratulated the local Party Committee, authorities and people on their achievements in socio-economic development, culture, defense and security, especially the outstanding outcomes in its military-defense task performance in 2016 and Q1 of 2017.
With its good task performance, the provincial military command was presented with the MND’s emulation flags for two consecutive years.
Gen. Giang hoped that the local Party committee, authorities and people continue creating favorable conditions for the local armed forces to fulfill their assigned missions, making large contributions to the locality’s stability and sustainable development in the future.
