Military and Public Security boost coordination in maintaining social safety
PANO – The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security held a conference to review the implementation of Decree No.03/2019/ND-CP, signed on last September 5, on coordination between the Vietnam People’s Army and Public Security Forces in national security protection, social order maintenance, crime prevention and fighting (Decree No.03 in short).
The event was co-chaired by Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To.

Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam and Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, and Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics Senior Lieutenant General Do Can also attended the conference.
In 2020, under the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Public Security Central Party Committee, and thanks to the support from local authorities and people, military and public security forces actively advised the Party and State to address defense and security-related situations.
In addition, the two armed forces closely worked together to foil every attempt, trick, and activity by reactionary and hostile forces, played the core and leading role in the COVID-19 fight and natural disaster prevention and control, among others.
Concluding the event, on behalf of the two ministries, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang acknowledged and hailed the remarkable achievements of the military and public security forces in the implementation of Decree No.03.
In 2021 and beyond, the two sides should strictly embrace viewpoints and guidelines of the Party and State’s laws in defense-security tasks, he stressed.
In order to fulfill all assigned tasks, General Giang affirmed that he hopes that the two forces will continue promoting solidarity to comprehensively implement cooperation contents articulated in Decree No.03, especially coordination in ensuring absolute safety and security for the upcoming 13th National Party Congress as well as other important political events in the country.
