The exercise aimed to improve command and management capability of the command and its affiliated units, the staff role and practice of border guard troops in border protection, and draw lessons to raise command and staff quality among all-level cadres and commanding officers of Long An provincial Border Guard Command.

The event was also a chance for participants to adjust, supplement, and perfect combat plans to protect borders with close attachment to the border guard force’s functions and missions, to meet combat requirements in a defensive area posture.

As planned, during the two-day exercise, participating forces practiced shifting the provincial border guard force’s combat readiness status to higher levels, making preparations, and starting operation according to tasks.

An overview of the opening ceremony of the exercise

Directing the exercise, Major General Nguyen Hoai Phuong, Second-in-Command of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, asked the provincial command to conduct the exercise to achieve its set goals, practice close-to-reality scenarios and tasks, and ensure absolute safety of personnel and equipment.

During the event, participants had their awareness of hostile forces’ plots and schemes of sabotage raised, contributing to their future’s building of plans to foil those plots and tricks to firmly safeguard the nation’s territorial sovereignty, border security and create a favorable environment for socio-economic development, contributing to excellently building and protecting the Fatherland in any circumstances.
